Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs brisket
  • 2 medium sweet onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1 cup salsa (store-bought or homemade)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the brisket generously with salt, pepper, cumin, and chili powder. Sear it in a hot skillet until browned on all sides.
  2. Transfer the brisket to a slow cooker or Dutch oven. Add chopped onions and minced garlic around it. Pour in beef broth to cover half of the brisket and cook on low for 8 hours.
  3. Once cooked, let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before shredding it with two forks. Mix in some cooking liquid to keep it moist.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or oven until heated through.
  5. Assemble your tacos by filling each tortilla with shredded brisket and topping with cilantro, diced onions, lime juice, and salsa.
