  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • Zest of 2 lemons

Instructions

  1. Wash and zest the lemons before juicing them until you have 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice and zest, then chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  4. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer instructions (about 20-25 minutes). For manual freezing, pour into a shallow dish.
  5. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
