Ingredients

For the Sandwich
  • 8 slices Ciabatta bread or any crusty bread of your choice
  • 8 slices Prosciutto thinly sliced
  • 4 oz Fresh mozzarella sliced
  • 1 cup Arugula washed and dried
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
  • Salt to taste Sea salt
  • Pepper to taste Freshly ground black pepper

Method

Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Start by slicing the ciabatta bread horizontally. If the bread is not pre-sliced, use a sharp knife to cut it evenly to create two halves. This will ensure that the sandwich has a good structure.
  2. On the bottom half of the ciabatta, layer 4 slices of prosciutto evenly. The prosciutto should be slightly overlapping to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  3. Next, add the sliced fresh mozzarella on top of the prosciutto. The creaminess of the mozzarella complements the saltiness of the prosciutto.
  4. Add a generous handful of arugula on top of the mozzarella. The peppery flavor of arugula adds a fresh contrast to the rich ingredients.
  5. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the arugula. This will add a sweet and tangy flavor that enhances the overall taste of the sandwich.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. This will elevate the flavors of the ingredients.
  7. Finally, place the top half of the ciabatta on the sandwich. Press down gently to help the ingredients meld together.
  8. Cut the sandwich into quarters or halves, depending on your preference, and serve immediately on a platter.
