Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned and no longer pink. This step is crucial as it ensures the meat is fully cooked and safe to eat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant. This step enhances the flavor of the beef.
  3. Drain excess fat from the skillet if necessary, leaving a small amount for flavor.
  4. Stir in the Manwich sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes
  1. While the filling simmers, toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown. Toasting adds a nice texture and prevents the buns from becoming soggy.
  2. Once the filling is ready, spoon a generous amount onto the bottom half of each bun.
  3. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the filling.
