Ingredients

For the Coffee Base
  • 1 cup coarse ground coffee Use high-quality coffee for the best flavor.
  • 4 cups water Filtered water is recommended for better taste.
For Serving
  • 2 cups milk Use whole, skim, or plant-based milk as preferred.
  • 4 tablespoons simple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 cup ice cubes Make ice cubes from coffee to prevent dilution.

Method

Prepare the Coffee Base
  1. In a large pitcher or bowl, combine the coarse ground coffee and water. Stir gently to ensure all coffee grounds are saturated.
  2. Cover the pitcher and let the coffee steep at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. This slow brewing process extracts rich flavors without bitterness.
  3. After steeping, strain the coffee using a fine mesh sieve or coffee filter to remove the grounds. Discard the grounds and keep the brewed coffee in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Assemble the Iced Coffee
  1. Fill each glass with ice cubes. For a stronger flavor, use coffee ice cubes made from brewed coffee instead of regular ice.
  2. Pour 1 cup of the brewed coffee over the ice in each glass.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of milk to each glass. You can adjust the amount of milk based on your preference for creaminess.
  4. Stir in 1 tablespoon of simple syrup for sweetness. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  5. Garnish with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cocoa powder if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a more intense coffee flavor, consider making coffee ice cubes by freezing brewed coffee in an ice cube tray. This prevents dilution as the ice melts.
