Method
Prepare the Bananas
- Peel and slice the ripe bananas into small pieces. Ripe bananas are essential as they provide natural sweetness and a creamy texture.
Blend the Ingredients
- In a blender or food processor, combine the sliced bananas, coconut milk, vanilla extract, honey or maple syrup, and salt.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure everything is well combined.
Chill the Mixture
- Transfer the banana mixture to a freezer-safe container. Cover it tightly with a lid or plastic wrap.
- Place the container in the freezer for about 2 hours to chill and firm up slightly.
Churn the Ice Cream (Optional)
- If using an ice cream maker, pour the chilled banana mixture into the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
- If you do not have an ice cream maker, you can skip this step and simply freeze the mixture.
Final Freeze
- Transfer the churned ice cream (or the mixture if not using an ice cream maker) back into the freezer-safe container.
- Freeze for an additional 2-4 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.
Serve
- Scoop the banana ice cream into bowls and enjoy! You can top it with sliced bananas, nuts, or chocolate chips for added flavor.

Notes
For a creamier texture, use an ice cream maker. If you prefer a vegan option, ensure that the sweetener is plant-based. This ice cream can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 weeks, but it's best enjoyed fresh.
