Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the meatloaf cooks evenly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme.
- Using your hands or a mixing spoon, gently mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
Shape and Bake the Meatloaf
- Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, pressing it down gently to form an even shape.
- Place the loaf pan on a baking sheet to catch any drippings during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Prepare the Glaze
- While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the glaze by mixing together the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl.
- Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Glaze and Finish Baking
- After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the glaze evenly over the top.
- Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) when checked with a meat thermometer.
Rest and Serve
- Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
- Slice and serve warm, optionally with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
