Ingredients

For the Biscuits
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 tbsp baking powder ensure it's fresh
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk room temperature
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries washed and drained
For the Blueberry Butter Sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries washed and drained
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method

Prepare the Biscuit Dough
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined. This ensures even distribution of the leavening agent.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the melted butter and buttermilk. Stir gently with a rubber spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to tough biscuits.
  4. Fold in the fresh blueberries gently to avoid breaking them, which can turn the dough purple.
  5. Using a spoon or your hands, drop large spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake the Biscuits
  1. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. The high temperature helps them rise and become fluffy.
  2. While the biscuits are baking, prepare the blueberry butter sauce.
Make the Blueberry Butter Sauce
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the melted butter, fresh blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  2. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries have softened and released their juices, creating a sauce. This step enhances the flavors and creates a delicious topping.
Serve
  1. Once the biscuits are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
  2. Serve the biscuits warm, generously drizzled with the blueberry butter sauce. Enjoy the combination of fluffy biscuits and sweet, tangy blueberry sauce!
