Ingredients

For the Banana Bread
  • 3 medium ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Prepare the Oven and Pan
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your banana bread bakes evenly and rises properly.
  2. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray to prevent the bread from sticking.
Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Ripe bananas are sweeter and provide moisture.
  2. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  3. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bread tough.
  3. Gently fold in the sifted all-purpose flour until no streaks remain, then add the chocolate chips.
Bake the Banana Bread
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This ensures that the bread is fully cooked through.
  3. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

For best results, use very ripe bananas with brown spots. You can also add nuts for extra texture if desired.
