Apple Butter Brie Grilled Cheese
A deliciously creamy grilled cheese sandwich featuring rich brie cheese and sweet apple butter, perfectly toasted to golden perfection.
Ingredients
For the Sandwich
- 8 slices sourdough bread or your favorite bread
- 8 oz Brie cheese sliced
- 1/2 cup apple butter store-bought or homemade
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened for spreading
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
- Slice the Brie cheese into thin pieces to ensure even melting during cooking.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. This will create a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
Assemble the Sandwiches
- On the unbuttered side of 4 slices of bread, spread a generous layer of apple butter.
- Layer the sliced Brie cheese on top of the apple butter, ensuring even coverage.
- Top with the remaining 4 slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
Cook the Sandwiches
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until golden brown. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
Serve
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute before slicing in half.
- Serve warm, optionally with extra apple butter on the side for dipping.
Notes
For a twist, consider adding thinly sliced apples or a sprinkle of cinnamon inside the sandwich before grilling.
