Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Mix in flour, sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Let it rise: Place in an oiled bowl covered with a damp cloth; allow to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Add filling & roll: Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over it and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  5. Roll & cut: Roll tightly into a log and slice into equal sections (about 1-2 inches thick). Place each piece into a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake & enjoy: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar and milk.
