Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm almond milk
  • 1/4 cup refined coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 cup chilled coconut cream
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm almond milk and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Mix in melted coconut oil and maple syrup.
  2. Gradually add all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In another bowl, whip together chilled coconut cream and chopped strawberries until well combined; add sweetener if desired.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into rectangles and cut slits along two sides. Place strawberry cream filling in the center and fold over the slits like braids.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake Danishes for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
