  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (your choice)
  • Royal icing (optional for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder; gradually add to the wet mixture while mixing until smooth.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness; cut into egg shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden. Cool completely before decorating.
