Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour
  • Active dry yeast
  • Granulated sugar
  • Unsalted butter
  • Milk
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Eggs

Instructions

  1. Warm milk to about 110°F (43°C) and mix with sugar and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until bubbly.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (¼ inch thick). Spread softened butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  6. Cut into strips, twist each strip, and place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
