  • 8 oz spaghetti noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (divided)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (or 1 tsp dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat; drain fat and stir in half the marinara sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Combine cooked spaghetti with remaining marinara sauce; layer half in the baking dish, add ricotta mixture, top with remaining spaghetti and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown; cool slightly before slicing.
