Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup raw pecans (chopped)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk, active dry yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar in a bowl; let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, melted butter, and the yeast mixture to form a shaggy dough; knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans in another bowl.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, sprinkle with the filling, roll tightly into a log, and slice into equal pieces.
  6. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish to rise again for about 30 minutes before baking at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
