20 large pasta shells (plus a few extra in case some tear during boiling)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound (450 g) ground beef
1 cup (250 g) ricotta cheese
1½ cups (170 g) shredded mozzarella cheese (divided: 1 cup for filling, ½ cup for topping)
2 cups (475 ml) marinara sauce (plus more for serving if desired)
¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
Cook large pasta shells in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté chopped onions until translucent, then add ground beef with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper; cook until browned.
In a bowl, combine ricotta, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan, and ground beef mixture; mix well.
Stuff each shell with the meat and cheese filling.
Spread marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and place stuffed shells inside. Top with remaining sauce and mozzarella.
Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
