Ground Beef Stuffed Shells are a comforting and delightful dish that brings a taste of Italy to your table. This easy recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 20 large pasta shells (plus a few extra in case some tear during boiling)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 cup (250 g) ricotta cheese

  • 1½ cups (170 g) shredded mozzarella cheese (divided: 1 cup for filling, ½ cup for topping)

  • 2 cups (475 ml) marinara sauce (plus more for serving if desired)

  • ¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook large pasta shells in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté chopped onions until translucent, then add ground beef with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper; cook until browned.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta, half of the mozzarella, Parmesan, and ground beef mixture; mix well.
  4. Stuff each shell with the meat and cheese filling.
  5. Spread marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish and place stuffed shells inside. Top with remaining sauce and mozzarella.
  6. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
