  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter; mix until combined.
  2. Incorporate eggs until a soft dough forms. If sticky, add more flour gradually.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough gently for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into squares.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry dough squares until golden brown on both sides (about 1-2 minutes each).
  6. Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
