Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place each chicken breast between plastic wrap and pound until about half an inch thick. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Lay a slice of ham and cheese on each breast, roll tightly, and secure with toothpicks if needed.
  4. Set up a dredging station: flour in one dish, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.
  5. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, coat with egg, then roll in breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat; fry the rolls until golden brown on all sides.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Let rest before slicing.

Notes

  •  Feel free to substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or mozzarella for different flavor profiles.
  •  For a healthier twist, bake instead of frying and use whole wheat breadcrumbs.
