Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (226g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed, 220g)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (10ml)
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (100g)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • 1 tsp baking powder (5g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (2.5g)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought, approx. 320g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in granulated and brown sugars until glossy.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Whisk in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold this into the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Spread half the batter in the prepared pan, drizzle with caramel sauce, then layer remaining batter on top and swirl gently.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
