  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  1. Cook the penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.

  5. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency.
